From an energetic child, who grew up in a mixed Syrian-Ukrainian family, my soviet mother like most of the soviet women decided to immerse me in the world of rhythmic gymnastics at age of 6- a very popular sport in the slavic countries. A sports I pursued professionally until the age of sixteen as part of the Syrian national team. I have Competed in numerous national and international competitions which defiently had an impact on shaping both my personality and my understanding of movement. At age of eleven, I began ballet classes at the Syrian Opera House of Damascus which I truly loved. After retiring from gymnastics, I was lacking physical movement in my life so I slowly turned my focus toward dance, joining various ganres until I finally found myself in contemporary dance when I moved to Lebanon in 2013 after the conflict in Syria led my family and I to move to Lebanon. In paralel to that, I have become a rhythmic gymnastics coach and slowly was building a career in gymnastics judging as well.
Motivated to advance my qualifications as a contemporary dancer, I participated in workshops during my visits to Europe and attended academies wherever I could, and thats where I developed a deep connection with contemporary floor work techniques. In Beirut, I joined Sima Dance Company and later Beirut Contemporary Ballet(BCB) in 2018, after successfully auditioning. BCB provided structured classes and consistent opportunities for growth through stage performances, lighting work, camera projects, and involvement in commercial productions. A standout experience was 'Trespass', the company’s first full-evening performance, which was supported by the Solidarity Fund Switzerland. The performance was Created during the COVID-19 pandemic, and it explored the idea of pushing boundaries in a time of isolation. As one of six dancers in the project, I found the creative process deeply gratifying.
As Lebanon's economic crisis prompted my move to Dubai, where the contemporary dance scene was very poor and this pushed me to seek opportunities in Europe. In 2023-2024, I was finally able to fully commit to my artistic development by getting a partial scholarship in Descalzinha Danza intensive program in Madrid. These diverse experiences have profoundly shaped me as both a dancer and choreographer, refining my skills and expanding my artistic vision. Currently, I am trying to develop my own movement vocabulary, informed by my own physicality, life experiences, and years of training. As I continue to evolve as both a choreographer and performer, I am excited about the opportunities to expand my skills and insights through upcoming projects and collaborations including teaching and performing my art.
